There is a bit of confusion among our guitarists when they talk about the 1A guitar. 1A is what we put on the label, where the class rating is listed.
What do we mean by 1A guitar?
By 1A we mean first class. These are all our handmade guitars, from the Aniversario to the Tradicional, to the Flamenco. All of them.
Those guitars that would not be 1A would be either the Conservatorio or the Preludio, which is only for the Spanish market, or the Sencilla. Those would be the only ones that do not belong to our handmade 1A guitars because second-class officers make them get to practice and then when they become first-class officers they can make them.
What does a guitarist mean when he talks about 1A guitars?
When a guitarist speaks of the 1A guitar, he refers to our traditional guitar. The name traditional was coined by both Amalia Ramírez and José Ramírez IV in the late 1980s.
It is a guitar developed by José Ramírez III in the 1960s as a result of all his research and collaboration with guitarists such as Andrés Segovia. This resulted in a guitar that was revolutionary in its time. He achieved an instrument that was very powerful but had a lot of nuances and colour. It is a guitar that allows you to create and enjoy music.
