Mark Knopfler's Ramírez guitar up for auction

Mark Knopfler, member of the iconic British rock band Dire Straits, is auctioning more than 120 guitars and amplifiers from his collection on 31 January in London. Among all the items up for auction will be a handmade Ramirez Guitar.

Mark Knopfler Auction

Throughout his 50-year career, Mark Knopfler amassed a huge collection of instruments that stand out for their unique sound and tone, from world-renowned brands and custom models made by expert luthiers.

Although Mark has said he is sad to leave his guitars behind, he also says he would love to make other people happy by using the instruments that have inspired him so much.

He also says that 25% of the proceeds will be split equally and donated to the British Red Cross, Tusk and Brave Hearts.

The auction house said that the estimated prices for the guitars will range from £300,000 to £500,000.

Mark Knopfler’s Ramirez Guitar

Among Mark Knopler’s large collection of guitars, we can find a Ramírez. This model was made in 1990 and was used by the artist on tour in 1991 – 1992.

Handmade with the highest quality woods, it was developed by José Ramírez III and his son José Ramírez IV, thinking about the new musical trends and the needs of guitarists. This resulted in a guitar with a great variety of timbres and nuances.

This model can be found in the collection that will be auctioned at the end of January. If you want to order this model, you can do it through our mail: tienda@guitarrasramirez.com.
