Few can claim more than 140 years of history and five generations of guitar makers. Every century-old business tells a story of adaptation, innovation, resilience, and passion for its craft. With these models, we celebrate almost a century and a half of tradition, during which we have played an active role in the evolution of the Spanish guitar. The introduction of cedar for the soundboard, the ebony reinforcement strip in the neck, the internal carbon reinforcement, synthetic finishes, the acoustic chamber, and the modern flamenco guitar body shape later used by the Madrid School of Guitar Making have all been important milestones that have earned us a distinguished place in the history of the guitar. Always at the forefront of innovation and design, we have made it a habit to listen to musicians, adapting our instruments to every era and musical style.

Made in Spanish factories, designed by us

The 140 Years models are studio guitars made entirely in Spanish factories, with our own design, built on the commemorative body shape of our 125, 130 and Tiempo models. Unlike other lines in our catalogue — such as our G-Line, built in Europe — each of these guitars is individually reviewed in our workshop in Madrid before reaching your hands, following the same individual quality-control criteria we apply to all our studio guitars made in Spain.

Every 140 Years model comes with its Ramírez case included and “some goodies”, whether you buy it at our physical shop or through our online shop.

A design with its own name: Amalia Ramírez’s daffodil

The 140 Years models feature a beautiful design by Amalia Ramírez, the first woman in this family of guitar makers and one of the first women to pursue this craft professionally. For this collection, she chose the narcissus (daffodil) flower, a symbol of new beginnings, inspired by the desire to look beyond the pandemic toward a more optimistic and hopeful future that we know will eventually arrive.

These are high-end study guitars, highly versatile and ideal for continuing studies, playing in a band, traveling, or amplifying. For this reason, they can be fitted with the LR Baggs system, whose blend of microphone and pickup faithfully reproduces all the nuances that make the guitar such a complete instrument — not only harmonic, but also percussive.

As Andrés Segovia once said: “The Spanish guitar is a miniature orchestra.”
