We met Diego on a trip, specifically at the NAMM show in Anaheim (L.A.) and it was a crush at the first touch, just like those who stopped to see him play at our booth. There was a considerable crowd of people ready to enjoy his music.
Then came friendship and finally the Tablao Guitar (a 1913 copy of a guitar made by José Ramírez I that we have in our collection and that at the time revolutionized the flamenco world) that perfectly matched his versatile, elegant, virtuoso, exquisite and original style. That guitar was made for him and we knew it from the first moment. That is why we are very excited about this album recorded with it.
What is the tonality of the jungle?
This work is an initiatory and reflective journey in a place full of trees, animals and with a naked instrument made of wood as the Spanish Guitar.
Diego takes you by the hand through the different sensations he experienced in that place where every sound was part of the music that was being created and transmitted through his fingers as a channel of that universe where different stories are told, because the music lives and interacts with the environment through the instrument in a perfect dialogue. It is a search in the depth of oneself.
The instrument adapts to the environment, where the rhythms and slow spaces speak of the personality of the jungle. As night leads to day and vice versa, the journey he proposes is full of color that evokes the darkness and recollection of meditation, as well as livelier rhythms that speak of the first rays of the sun.
The jaguar becomes the totem he chooses to go with us through the jungle, from Texas to Argentina, to mix southern rhythms such as Milonga, with more Caribbean styles and even Bossa Nova.
