The Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid) once again filled its halls with the sound of Spanish guitar. This time, the Sala Manuel de Falla welcomed Italian guitarist Gregorio Fracchia, invited as part of the concert series organized by the Sociedad Española de la Guitarra, one of the oldest and most respected institutions dedicated to promoting our instrument in Spain, founded in 1955. Fracchia performed his repertoire on a Ramírez Auditorio guitar, the model from our workshop designed to fill the largest concert stages with sound.

A Stage Steeped in History
Every recital in the Sociedad Española de la Guitarra‘s series takes place in the Sala Manuel de Falla at the Royal Conservatory, a venue that has been a meeting point for guitarists, enthusiasts and students across Madrid for decades. The fact that the SEG programmed Gregorio Fracchia for its season confirms the international prestige the Italian guitarist has also built in Spain, where he regularly performs at conservatories, festivals and leading concert series.
Gregorio Fracchia, Guitarist and Humanist
Born in Turin in 1996, Gregorio Fracchia began playing classical guitar at the age of six. He trained at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin and refined his technique under masters such as Leo Brouwer, Oscar Ghiglia and Maurizio Colonna, the latter also his mentor in both performance and composition.
But Fracchia is far more than a concert performer. He is also a writer and philosopher: he holds a degree in Theoretical Philosophy from the University of Turin and is currently pursuing a PhD focused on classical metaphysics, hermeneutics and musical aesthetics. In 2017, at just twenty years old, he published the novel L’altro suono dell’ombra with Mondadori, featuring Andrés Segovia as its protagonist. As a composer, he has released several albums of his own, including D-Tunes, Contemporarity and Music to Me.
Since 2024, Fracchia has played a Ramírez Auditorio model guitar with a 664 mm scale length. In his own words:
“Since childhood, for me, Ramírez has been synonymous with guitar. The main guitarists I admire and who have influenced me — I’m thinking of Andrés Segovia and my teacher Maurizio Colonna — played Ramírez for much of their artistic lives.”
