Víctor Monge “Serranito” has become a guitar legend, as he has been playing this majestic instrument since he was 12 years old, which has led him to achieve great mastery, meet other notable artists, live numerous experiences and even win a Grammy Award, among many other awards.

ExpoFlamenco interviewed Serranito to celebrate his farewell tour after more than 60 years on the stage.

ExpoFlamenco interviews Serranito

At the beginning of the interview, Serranito confesses that it is a farewell to his concerts, but not to the guitar, as he will never stop learning and creating with this instrument. He also says that the greatest reward he has received in his career is the affection he has felt for so many decades from the public.

He also says that he feels very grateful to have met the best artists of his time, from whom he learned by listening and playing, and he remembers how, together with Paco de Lucía and Manuel Cano, they played the first concert without singers (“cantaor”), only as guitarists, obtaining a great success and receiving numerous people as audience.

On the other hand, Serranito highlights his role in opening the way for other guitarists, recalling when he went to India as a soloist at a time when no one had gone there yet.
