The living memory of Domingo Villero returns home (A very special visit)

Domingo Villero: Su legado y memoria en Guitarras Ramírez

Sometimes, the story of our guitars doesn’t end when they leave the workshop; sometimes, that story comes back to us years later to close the circle with an embrace.

It has been nearly four years since that January in 2022 when we had to say goodbye to Domingo Villero Jurado. Cádiz lost one of its favorite sons, and the flamenco world lost an honest and passionate performer. But as often happens with great maestros, his memory never truly faded.

Last week, that memory came alive in the most emotional way possible: we received a visit at our workshop from his son, Domingo Villero, who currently holds a position of responsibility in Cádiz.

A meeting between generations

It was a visit that touched our hearts. While talking with Kelo, amidst the woods and varnishes that his father would have loved so much, the memory of the maestro emerged. His son shared something that filled us with pride: “My father always used a Ramírez guitar.”

Hearing that in person, four years after his passing, reaffirms our vocation. It confirms that the relationship between Domingo and his instrument was a true marriage of wood and soul. We were delighted to welcome him and to feel that his father’s loyalty to our house remains alive in his family.

The legacy of the artist from Santa María

We take this opportunity to pay tribute once again to the figure of Domingo. Born in the heart of the Santa María district, he was the embodiment of a self-made artist. His touch, born of intuition rather than cold academies, accompanied giants such as José Mercé, Chano Lobato, and Marifé de Triana.

His Ramírez guitar traveled with him from the mythical Venta de Vargas to theaters in New York or Greece, serving as his faithful sonic squire.

Although Domingo left us in 2022, after receiving the Gold Insignia of the Chair of Flamencology of Cádiz, moments like his son’s visit show us that his music continues to resonate.

Thank you, Domingo, for coming to see us and for bringing back, for a moment, the presence of your father. This will always be your home.
