Introducing the G-Line: our new family of studio guitars with Ramírez Design

Since our house first opened its doors in the late 19th century, we at Guitarras Ramírez have felt the immense responsibility of accompanying the evolution of music and of guitarists themselves. We know from experience that every player follows a unique path in their learning, and over the decades we have relentlessly searched for new ways to put the sound that defines us into the hands of those who feel a true passion for the six strings. Today, after two intense years drawing up plans, developing designs and building a specialised quality-control team, we’re excited to introduce the G-Line: a studio guitar line conceived as an entry point into the Ramírez world and as the first step within our range of studio guitars, in this case built in Europe.

A design of our own, born outside our workshop

With the G-Line, we wanted to take a different step to answer a real need: bringing the Ramírez sound and identity to a wider audience, while maintaining an excellent balance between quality and price. Unlike our studio guitars made in Spain, the G-Line guitars are solid-wood instruments built in a factory in Europe.

Over the course of two years, we’ve worked closely with this factory and with GEWA’s specialised quality-control team to bring these models to life under Ramírez Design. Taking the old, now discontinued Line R as a reference point, we’ve developed these models to improve on both quality and design.

Two processes, one shared quality standard

It’s important to point out that the G-Line and our studio guitars made in Spain have different positionings and different production and quality-control processes. When a musician buys one of our studio guitars made in Madrid, they know it has gone through an individual review process in our own workshop, where every single instrument is checked one by one by our team.

With the G-Line, quality control takes place at GEWA’s facilities, carried out by a specialised team trained by us to follow our own inspection guidelines. In addition, we personally carry out periodic random checks to make sure the factory continues to meet our quality standards. This allows us to uphold our quality policy while offering a more accessible product, ensuring that every instrument leaving the production line sounds exactly as we designed it to.

We wanted to bring our craft closer to guitarists who are looking for an accessible instrument, without compromising on sound quality or playing comfort. The G-Line is our direct answer to those who need a highly versatile guitar, one that can also be amplified with our LR Baggs system.

Six models, many ways to express yourself

We know that the guitar is a natural extension of the voice of whoever plays it, and that every genre calls for its own nuances. That’s why we’ve structured and shaped this new collection into six clearly differentiated models, designed to cover different styles and ways of playing.

Classical: G-Line CLA-S and G-Line CLA-C

For those seeking the purity of traditional sound without embellishment, we’ve included two beautiful classical models. These guitars offer the deep, round tone rich in overtones that has been the unmistakable sonic signature of our house for over a hundred years of history.

Flamenco: G-Line FLA-C Blanca and G-Line FLA-R Negra

With flamenco enthusiasts, cante and baile in mind, the G-Line presents two models with a distinctly flamenco character. What’s more, on these models we’re introducing an innovation that purists will love: the option of fitting Wittner Flamenco Fine-Tuning pegs. At first glance, these pegs keep the romantic, unmistakable look of traditional wooden tuning pegs, but they conceal a high-precision mechanism inside that keeps tuning smooth and exact.

Cutaway: G-Line CW-S and G-Line CW-C

For guitarists who move through the worlds of jazz, bossa nova, pop or fusion music, the upper frets are often their natural playground. For them, we’ve carefully designed two cutaway models. This strategic notch in the body gives easy, effortless access to the highest notes on the fretboard. These are remarkably ergonomic instruments, designed so a musician can strap in, walk on stage with confidence, and forget about any physical limitation when it comes to soaring and improvising up the neck.

Living woods and high-fidelity electronics

On the cutaway and classical models, guitarists can choose between a Spruce top, renowned for a bright, clear, direct sound that matures over time; or a Cedar top, the wood José Ramírez III pioneered in the world of the guitar, world-famous for delivering a warm, deep and enveloping tone.

In today’s musical world, properly amplifying an instrument is essential. After extensive testing, we recommended and selected the LR Baggs Anthem system to give these guitars a voice when plugged into an amplifier. This system combines an under-saddle piezo pickup with an internal microphone mounted on the soundboard, capturing both the vibration of the wood and the percussive taps played on the top. This top-tier system comes fitted as standard on our cutaway models, and is offered as an excellent custom-install option across the rest of the classical and flamenco family. It’s particularly well suited to flamenco and popular music styles.

From Madrid to the rest of the world

For the G-Line’s debut, we consciously chose a clean, elegant, minimalist aesthetic.

This project was born with a deep international calling. We want Ramírez Design to cross borders and oceans more easily than ever, and to make that happen, the marketing and distribution of this line is carried out exclusively through our partner GEWA, ensuring these instruments reach the best music shops around the world. And, of course, the entire G-Line family will always have a home at our shop on Calle de la Paz, number 8, where you’ll be able to come and meet them, try them, and feel them for yourself.

With the arrival of the G-Line, we open a new chapter in our long history: the G-Line complements our studio range without replacing it, as a first step into the Ramírez world. It’s a sincere, open invitation for more and more musicians to discover, feel and enjoy what it means to play an instrument designed by Amalia Ramírez.
