A tribute from the flamenco experience
On 27 December 2024, Andalusian guitarist, teacher, youtuber and builder Antonio Dovao dedicated a special entry in his personal blog to Guitarras Ramírez, a mention we are grateful for. From his official website antoniodovao.com, Dovao offered a detailed and close analysis of one of our professional guitars, highlighting its aesthetics as well as its sound and constructive qualities.
A professional Ramírez guitar under scrutiny
Dovao had in his hands a guitar from our professional range, handcrafted in the Ramírez Guitars workshop, a model that, as he described, stood out for its solid pine top with reddish veins, top quality cypress sides and back, ebony fingerboard without imperfections and an innovative bridge design. He also praised the detail of our traditional rosette, one of the most representative visual hallmarks of our instruments.
His appreciation was not limited to the technical or visual aspect. Dovao also shared with his readers the sensation he got from the sound of the instrument: ‘warm, balanced, with that vintage tone that only well-worked guitars offer, tanned with time and affection’.
The Ramírez sound: tradition and soul
The publication underlines something that we at Ramírez Guitars have been defending since 1882: a guitar should not only sound good, but also tell a story and show the experience. The commitment to guitar tradition, the respect for noble materials and the evolution towards a modern sound without losing the essence are elements that Dovao perceives and celebrates.
As he points out in his blog, our firm represents a point of union between past and present, a guitar making house that has influenced several generations of both classical and flamenco guitarists. His post ends by acknowledging that a guitar is not just an instrument, but ‘an extension of the guitarist’s body and soul’.
