{"id":33766,"date":"2023-10-05T08:25:22","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T06:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/ramirez-guitars-headers\/"},"modified":"2023-10-05T08:25:22","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T06:25:22","slug":"ramirez-guitars-headers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/ramirez-guitars-headers\/","title":{"rendered":"Ram\u00edrez Guitars headers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As many already know, the guitar headstock is like a signature, <strong>a sign of the guitar maker&#8217;s identity<\/strong>, designed to be recognised without the need to see the label or any other identifying marks.<\/p>\n<p>So, today we show you the<strong> evolution of Ram\u00edrez guitar headstocks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez I and Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez II<\/h2>\n<p>The headpiece of my great-grandfather, <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/about-us\/jose-ramirez-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez I<\/a>, is the same one that his son, <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/about-us\/jose-ramirez-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez II<\/a>, continued to use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23771 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen1.png\" alt=\"Header by Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez I and Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez II\" width=\"123\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Manuel Ram\u00edrez<\/h2>\n<p>His younger brother, <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/about-us\/manuel-ramirez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manuel Ram\u00edrez<\/a>, when he became independent, stopped using Jos\u00e9&#8217;s finial and <strong>designed his own<\/strong>, a design that other guitar makers now use instead of creating their own original finial. Probably some of them use it because it is a line that descends from our house, in order to identify themselves with our school.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the descendants of Manuel Ram\u00edrez continue to use the finial of his brother and master Jos\u00e9, and later other variants of this basic design, <strong>we do not use, at least for the moment, Manuel&#8217;s design except for the reproduction of <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/historical-hints-c-7-andres-segovias-manuel-ramirez-guitar-and-the-artisan-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manuel Ram\u00edrez&#8217;s guitar which he gave to Andr\u00e9s Segovia<\/a> in 1913<\/strong> and which is exhibited in the MET.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23775 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Manuel Ram\u00edrez's header\" width=\"221\" height=\"242\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez III<\/h2>\n<p>In the 1950s, my father, <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/about-us\/jose-ramirez-iii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez III<\/a>, <strong>designed what has become the most representative of our house<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This head end has been, and continues to be, copied by many brands, which is better seen as a tribute rather than a less charitable reaction. It is what it is and we can&#8217;t help it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23779 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen3.png\" alt=\"Header by Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez III\" width=\"527\" height=\"382\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But this was not the first attempt. Among my father&#8217;s papers, I found a drawing of his before he decided on the definitive finial, which I loved, and <strong>which I used for our semi-professional guitar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There is a curious anecdote about this headjoint. One day, a colleague called me to tell me that someone had told him that we had copied his headjoint. <strong>I was perplexed because it was nothing like his<\/strong>, and I made him see the differences, although they were obvious, but given his stubbornness, I&#8217;m afraid that the discussion did not end well.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, I must add that this design is so old and, evidently, a first version of the definitive one, that I don&#8217;t know what else to say,<strong> as the matter speaks for itself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23783 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"162\" height=\"156\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez IV and Amalia Ram\u00edrez<\/h2>\n<p>And going back to my great-grandfather&#8217;s and grandfather&#8217;s original finial, <strong>my brother <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/about-us\/jose-ramirez-iv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez IV<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/about-us\/amalia-ramirez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I<\/a> rescued it<\/strong> to use it in one of our studio lines, and also for the handcrafted guitars <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/producto\/sencilla140-clasica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sencilla<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/producto\/prelude-classical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preludio<\/a> that we are building in the workshop since 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23785 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen7.png\" alt=\"Header by Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez IV and Amalia Ram\u00edrez\" width=\"512\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the head end of the studio line we call E, designed jointly by my father and my brother, we kept it until we decided to stop using it because <strong>we decided to unify it in all our studio lines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23787 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Imagen8.png\" alt=\"Header by Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez IV and Amalia Ram\u00edrez\" width=\"182\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another top auction is the GH guitar, a guitar that <strong>Klaus Voorman bought in our old shop at Concepci\u00f3n Jer\u00f3nima 2, and which he gave to <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarrasramirez.com\/en\/guitar-ramirez-george-the-beatles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Harrison<\/a> as a gift<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This guitar was used on several recordings by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9_c2XZd9mMo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Beatles<\/a>.
