On 27 April 2023 we attended the heartfelt tribute paid by colleagues and students at UCM to the late maestro, musicologist and musician Gerardo Arriaga. From Guitarras Ramírez, we send our most sincere condolences to the family.

Gerardo Arriaga and Guitarras Ramírez

We knew Gerardo Arriaga in his last years. Cristina Ramírez, as a member of the Spanish Guitar Society, met him on several occasions.

From the very beginning he gave us that special aura that he let linger in the atmosphere, accompanied by his passionate conversations about the guitar, the world we lived in and an infinite number of subjects related or not to our instrument.

We would have liked to get to know him better, but we are left with the affectionate memory of the few times we met him.

We leave you this obituary written by his friend, colleague and president of the Spanish Guitar Society, Javier Súarez-Pajares in the magazine Scherzo: scherzo.es/gerardo-arriaga-in-memoriam/
